Cameron Swan shared insights on “Supercharging the northern media market.”
Cameron joined fellow industry leaders Pete Coates, managing director of Omnicom Media Group Newcastle, Kate Bradbury, deputy managing director at Wavemaker North, Lisa Morton, CEO, Roland Dransfield, founder, and Oliver Scull, head of digital and solutions at News UK, to discuss what makes northern media businesses unique, the commercial ecosystem and what it takes to thrive in a changing landscape.
Panelists agreed advantages of going north include strong economic growth, access to talent and sense of community.
Swan said “Business is about where the talent is and finding meaningful work that drives revenue and makes shareholders money.”

Active appointed experienced media professional Dave Newton as its first Head of Agency Partnerships – North & Scotland in February 2025. The role sees Newton based in Manchester but covering a range of partnerships outside of London, as well as staying closely connected with the head office. Active International already works with a number of clients based outside of the capital, including Kopperberg, Jet2 and independent agency networks.
